Linux on the Enterprise Desktop: The View from Novell
2004 will be a transition year for Linux. It will be the year that Linux moved from the testing lab into real production at corporations large and small. One of the key trends will be the transition of Linux deployments from individually managed grass-roots efforts to IT-driven strategic initiatives. This talk will focus on the how Linux desktop deployments are likely to develop within the enterprise, and what technology opportunities are there to further develop the Linux desktop and make it more suitable for wide-scale enterprise deployment. Novell, with its purchase of SUSE Linux and Ximian, is leading the way to the next generation Linux desktop, this talk will also bring you up to speed with Novell's vision for enterprise Linux.
About Greg Mancusi-Ungaro
Greg Mancusi-Ungaro joined Ximian in 2001, shortly before the launch of the first edition of Ximian Desktop. He is responsible for work wide Ximian marketing efforts. Now as part of Novell, Mancusi-Ungaro helps to define Novell linux strategy and positioning. Prior to joining Ximian, Mancusi-Ungaro served as a product manager, product designer and program manager at Lotus Development Corporation, specializing in Macintosh applications and quantitative information display technologies.
