Abstract
Ping is a nice tool to see if a remote maschine is reachable. Ping also spits out a lot of numbers. This data can provide interesting insights into the propperties of a network link without requiering any priviledged access. Smokeping is a tool which can organize the pinging of many maschines for you. It stores the data and presents it graphically on the web. This talk is about SmokePing. Apart from explaining the basics it will also dive into the more involved features of smokeping like its alert functions and its plugin-interface.
