Traditional IT Data Centres have prided themselves on delivering performance, stability, scaleability and predictability to their 'customers' and leading edge technology was not always part of a Data Centre Deployment.
As Linux and Open Source begin to deliver different dimensions of cost and saleability, so Data Centres will be pressured to change.
In this session will we review the changes that Linux will bring to the Data Centre and likely deployment strategies that will be the result.
Stephen Wanless
Mr Wanless is the Product Strategist and manager for the Linux program at Dell Inc, based in Austin Texas. He has been in this role for the last 3 years and is responsible for Dell's Linux strategy as well as the availability of Linux across Dell's entire server product line.
Prior to Dell, Mr. Wanless was very active in the Unix community and Unix vendors for approximately 15 years, working for Sun Microsystems and Sequent Computer Systems Inc. While at Sequent, Mr Wanless ran the European Product Marketing organisation before relocating to the USA to manage the NUMA marketing organisation. Mr Wanless has a wide range of technical experience having started in the industry as an assembly programmer working on the first real time flight simulators to be based on standard Operating Systems.
