In this presentation, Phil Regnauld from catpipe Systems will talk about the aspects of modern network monitoring using Open Source components, and how these are used in the D-Mon product. Issues such as redundant configuration, overlap and integration of the different tools will be addressed, and how they were solved in D-Mon. Another point of discussion will be the tradeoffs which had to be made when integrating the different tools (Nagios, RRD, SmokePing, Syslog) and trying to unify the configuration, and how it was done using Perl, XML, PostgreSQL and PHP.
