And after the Gimp has been used
Speaker:
Simon Budig
Title of the presentation:
The GIMP
Abstract
"The Gimp"
is probably the best image manipulation program created by
the Open Source community. Simon Budig wants to introduce the audience
into its magic.
Being one of the first free software programs for the "Linux Desktop"
Gimp has spawned other popular projects. We will have a look at the
history of the Gimp and some of its offsprings and lessons that have
been learned during the seven years of Gimp development.
After this informal introduction to the Gimp we will do some hands-on
tutorials. We will have a look at the basic features of the Gimp and
how to create nifty effects with them. The most important plug ins will
be presented.
When we had a look at the past and the present of the Gimp we will try
to look into the Gimps future. What is the goal of the current Gimp
development, what is the intended audience? And what has a genetically
engineered goat (large) to do with it?
The audience is encouraged to ask questions.
Required knowledge
It is helpful to already have played with the Gimp.
